About
Thrive Driver Training is based in Mt Barker and Strathalbyn in the Adelaide Hills and is operated by Lisa Smith.
Lisa is a qualified motor vehicle driving instructor and offers driving lessons for learners driving for the first time all the way to those requiring final preparations for the VORT.
Lisa has worked for 25+ years as secondary teacher and has current Police and Working With Children Clearances. She is a member of the Australian Driver Trainers' Association SA.
At Thrive Driver Training we feel that it is not just about getting your Ps. We aim to help learner drivers to thrive behind the wheel to become safe, confident, competent & considerate drivers.
Training Vehicle
Lessons will be conducted in a 2022 Hybrid Toyota Corolla. This vehicle has an ANCAP 5 star rating and is equipped with dual brakes. Additional safety features include:
- Pre-Collision System & Lane Departure Alert
- Road Sign Assist & Blind Spot Monitoring
The features of the Thrive Driving School vehicle make the experience of learning to drive as safe and comfortable as possible.
Lessons in your own car can also be arranged, please get in touch to discuss this option further.
Lesson Locations & Opening Hours
Driving lessons start and finish at The Homemaker Centre, 6 Dutton Road, Mt Barker or in Strathalbyn (either at EFS or the Railway Station).
Arrangements can be made for alternate start and finish locations within a reasonable distance from the start points at the time of booking or via email/text at least a day prior. Pick up from other locations in Mt Barker will attract a $10 fee.
It is recommended that as you get closer to doing your VORT that you arrange lessons in Mt Barker.
Lesson Fees
60-Minute Lesson from $110
90-Minute Lesson from $150
Other lesson durations by negotiation
We can also arrange your VORT with an Authorised VORT Examiner once you have completed your lessons, including a "warm up" lesson prior and the use of the Thrive Driver Training vehicle.
* Fees are regularly reviewed and subject to change
* Home collection fee of $10 in Mt Barker
* If you require a tax invoice rather than the receipts from our booking system an admin fee will apply ($10)
Booking Lessons
We use a booking system to manage our bookings, payments and reminders.
Payments are due before the lessons, a reminder will be sent a few days before the lesson. You can also pay cash for lessons, just let us know prior and ignore the generated payment requests. For direct bank transfers please make contact for our bank details.
Supervising drivers are encouraged to attend lessons if they can, we understand this is not always possible but know that you are welcome any time.
If you can’t see a time that works for you, please get in touch as we may have other options available (particularly into the future) and are happy to try to find something that works for us both.
New clients should make contact via text or email prior to booking to see if we have availability to meet your needs, particularly if you want a VORT soon.
